Just like us humans, dogs need a little bit of time to get accustomed to a new diet. Follow this simple guide to help them with their transition to cleaner, healthier food!
Regardless of whether or not you're feeding our freshly cooked food, our fresh kibble, or both together, we recommend introducing Kabo over a 7-day period. Make sure you still have your dog's current food around to help the transition!
How to Transition into Full Kabo Meals
*These measurements don’t need to be exact. Just estimate the portions to the best of your ability.
Some dogs need a bit more time to transition, which is totally fine! If your dog isn't adjusting, simply stay at that transition stage for another day or two.
During this first week, pay some extra attention to your dog’s poop. You will almost certainly notice a difference in the amount and consistency, but don’t worry because this is perfectly normal! If you notice more of a liquid consistency than usual, just stick with the same percentage of their old food and Kabo food for an extra 1-2 days. For example, if you start to notice runny excrement on day 3, just keep feeding them 50% old food and 50% Kabo for days 4 and 5. After a couple of days you will see their stool returning to normal, and you can continue following the transition guide as outlined above.
How to feed Kabo as a Meal Topper
This only applies to our customers who have selected the Topper option. This is a great choice if you want to give your dog the boost of Kabo nutrients while keeping them mostly on their current diet. Our topper packs are portioned to 25% of your dog's daily nutritional requirements. Simply mix each pack with 75% of their current food and you're good to go — no need to transition.
